Gap yearness

Just a quick post to ask for prayers in the lead up to my departure to India in less than 2 weeks (eek) getting a bit stressed about packing and silly little things like Malaria tablets...
Thanks :)

Introducing...

... flying the nest!

Welcome to this new site, which seeks to keep the St Mary's congregation in touch with its wandering younger members. After years in WAM (which, if you were never told, stands for [Young People] With A Mission [to make a difference], a name decided upon by the group's original members some twelve years ago), many are moving on to pastures new this year in the form of University studies. Others have already headed off to Exeter, Banbury and Ansdell (just south of Blackpool) in the past few years.

... leaving home ...

So it seemed about time to put together a means by which everyone can keep in touch with us. Studentdom is such an important time for young people: a time of experimentation, new-found independence, highs and lows. Did you know that 85% of those who become Christians do so before they are 23 years old? And so you are sending out a whole bunch of young guys and girls whom the missiologists would call 'strategic missionaries', to various campuses (see right), each of whom are at different places in their own walk with God... sending them out to a time of life which has the potential for growth of great proportions for young Christians; and the opposite too.

I was so encouraged by the support I received from the church whilst I was in Angola this year, something for which I am incredibly thankful. It was great to have St Mary's behind me in prayer, it really was. But at the same time, we must realise that missionaries who cross national and cultural boundaries are not any more special than other Christians. Not in God's eyes, anyway. That's not to say they don't need support, of course. But so do all other Christians ... and so that's the premise for this website! Will you join in the fun through your prayers and communicative support?

Look out for emails from time to time on the church's email distribution list with WAMish updates too...
